After 16 years away from Ghana’s top flight, Swedru All Blacks are making a comeback—and they’re doing it from home.
The club has officially confirmed that the Swedru Sports Stadium will serve as their home venue for the upcoming 2025/26 Ghana Premier League (GPL) season.
This confirmation was made by the club’s Public Relations Officer, Nathaniel Obeng, in an interview with Citi Sports. He stated that extensive renovation work is currently underway at the stadium, led and fully financed by club president Stephen Atto Quayson.
“We are going to play at the Swedru Sports Stadium as our home venue,” Obeng said.
“We’ve undertaken major upgrades, including pitch improvement and fencing, all in line with club licensing requirements.”
The National Sports Authority (NSA) has officially granted approval for the renovation works, which include the installation of polytanks, irrigation systems, and pitch maintenance upgrades.
According to Obeng, the Club Licensing Board has already carried out its first inspection and is satisfied with the progress made.
Swedru All Blacks last featured in the GPL during the 2008/09 season, and their return marks a significant chapter in the club’s history. Dubbed “The Black Magicians,” the team is determined to meet all operational standards ahead of the new season.
Community support has also been visible, with ace broadcaster Dan Kweku Yeboah, a former club PRO, donating bags of cement to aid stadium renovation efforts.
As excitement builds, fans are hopeful that the Swedru Stadium can be transformed into a fortress as the club aims for a strong showing in the 2025/26 campaign.
