Renowned gospel songstress Obaapa Christy has expressed the need for gospel musicians to invest in their appearance.
According to her, that uplifts God’s name and his handiwork.
Speaking in an interview on the Max Morning Show in Accra on Friday, the celebrated singer stated that as the spirit needs God’s words to beautify it, the body equally needs royal garments and makeup to fully give a person a better outlook and identity.
“”God has already created you, so you have to build yourself up. It’s like you have built a house, and after the completion, you tell yourself that you’re done without painting it even if it looks filthy.
Just like that, God has created us like a house, and the spirit of God is in us. As we are beautifying the spirit in us, we also have to decorate the body to attract people for them to praise God for our beautiful looks.
This is not a crime or sin; it improves God’s work and uplifts the name of God for his handiwork,” she said.
Obaapa Christy, however, cautioned that one needed to back his or her act with a good motive, as that would make an act a sin or godly.
”Before you do something, make sure you understand what you’re doing. Everything that we do, the motive behind it makes it a sin or godly. In the eyes of humans, they might see it differently from God. Besides, it’s not everyone who will say good things about you, so it has to blend for the purpose of God to be served,” she added.
