The Ghana Police Service has provided details on the Thursday attempted robbery incident at Labone in Accra.
The arrested suspect has been identified as Augustine Okechuku Maazi. The two others, who were gunned down, were yet to be identified by the police.
Intelligence gathered by the police indicated that the suspects were planning to attack three banks in the Labone enclave, namely GCB Bank, Ecobank, and Zenith Bank.
The police team deployed to the vicinity was able to foil the robbery, leading to the apprehension of the Nigerian national.
One of the two vehicles being used by the suspects sped off in an attempt to escape. The other occupant in the vehicle, which had Maazi in it, escaped.
The suspects in the other vehicle, a Toyota Highlander, two of them, died after engaging in a crossfire with the police.
Maazi is currently in the grip of the police, assisting with investigations.
