Renowned comedian Lekzy Decomic has denied claims that he has been paid by some political parties to denigrate “The New Force” movement spearheaded by Nana Kwame Bediako, popularly known as Cheddar or Freedom Jacob Caesar.
According to him, his stand-up comedy show, dubbed “The New False,” is not to denigrate any political party but to tell the tales of Ghana’s political history through comedy.
Speaking in an interview on the Max Morning Show in Accra on Monday, Lekzy Decomic stated that his show had been carried out for the past four years and it was not intended to make a mockery of Cheddar and his political movement.
He stated that it was a special show to douse the political tension in the country with humor just to make people laugh and to also drum home some of the pressing needs of the Ghanaian citizenry in a witty and non-provocative fashion.
Lekzy Decomic noted that when his production hub, 2Cute Entertainment, unveiled the event, a section of Ghanaians also accused him of being paid by Cheddar to promote the new force, as his name always appeared in the narrative.
“This is not to denigrate any political party, and I know some day Cheddar himself will sit back and clap for me for this comedy show, as in a way it is also promoting his agenda,” he added.
Lekzy Decomic made it clear that he has not been paid by neither the opposition nor Cheddar for his comedy show, but it was a strategic event to promote the history of Ghana’s arts and pop culture.
The New False Comedy is slated for September 28, 2024, at the UPSA Auditorium in Accra.
