Nigerian Afrobeats singer Omah Stanley Didia, popularly known in the industry as Omah Lay, says he has stopped himself from his decision to quit smoking since he would still die even if he stopped smoking.
According to him, smoking gives him the urge to do what makes him happy; thus, the task he took upon himself to quit the habit had been herculean and unsuccessful.
Speaking in a recent podcast interview, the “Soso” hitmaker maintained that he had given up on his decision to stop smoking and had accepted his fate of being a smoker.
“I love smoking a lot. I tried to stop; I forced myself, but I couldn’t. Honestly, bro, life is just one. I am going to just die one day. We are all going to die one day. So what’s the essence [of forcing myself to stop smoking]?” he queried.
Omah Lay said he gained artificial happiness in smoking, and it was difficult to turn from the lifestyle he embraced.
“I just want to be at peace and smoke my weed. And the fact that it is illegal in Nigeria gives me artificial happiness and a sense of rebellion. This is it. This is my life. I will just live it. I will enjoy every single thing that I have,” he added.
