The National Sports Authority (NSA) is racing against time to have the Accra Sports Stadium entirely ready for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Recently appointed Director General of the NSA, Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, was in the company of the Minister for Sports and Recreation, Hon. Kofi Adams, inspecting the state of the national facility.
With the Black Stars set to hold their first official training ahead of their qualifier against Chad at the stadium on Friday, March 21, on Monday, March 17, the floodlights are in dire need of repairs to provide better visibility at night.
Mr. Ankrah, the Director General, describes as “just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the rot at the NSA.”
Mr. Ankrah anticipates the repair works may come at a huge cost, lamenting the distasteful state in which the outgoing NSA administration is leaving behind.
The BBC-trained journalist and Max TV presenter then engage his new staff in an introductory durbar in the press room at the stadium. He was welcomed with cheers and applause, as the NSA staff seem to welcome his appointment.
