The vice president of the Republic of Ghana, Her Excellency Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, is set to lead a government delegation to convey condolences to the bereaved families of Dr Omane Boamah and Alhaji Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed.
Between 10:30 am and 11:00 am on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, a Ghana Armed Forces’ Z9 helicopter heading for Obuasi from Accra crashed and burnt in Adansi, Ashanti Region.
The unfortunate crash claimed the lives of eight occupants, including Defence Minister Dr Omane Boamah and Environment, Science and Technology Minister Alhaji Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, a former minister of state, an NDC vice chairman, an acting deputy national security coordinator, and two Air Force officers.
Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, Minister of Education, has confirmed the vice president of the country would lead a high-powered delegation to the families of the deceased ministers due to the current emotional state of His Excellency John Dramani Mahama after news broke to him of the deaths of his friends and army officers.
The ministers and two others were on a national assignment—to launch a corporate mining initiative on behalf of the President of Ghana, as part of his resetting agenda.
