Military Helicopter Crash: National Mourning Declaration

Date:

The President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, has ordered all flags to fly half-mast until further notice.

This directive follows the tragic deaths of Defence Minister Dr Edward Kofi Omane Boamah and Environment, Science, and Technology Minister Alhaji Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, in a military helicopter crash.

Emotionally wrecked President Mahama, according to the Minister of Government Communications, Hon. Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has suspended all his scheduled activities and programmes for the rest of the week.

A three-day national mourning has thereby been declared, starting today, Thursday, August 7, 2025.

On behalf of IMAX Media, I extend the deepest of condolences to the presidency, the entire government of Ghana, and the families of the dearly departed servants of our great nation.
