JUST IN: Aduana Stars Sack Coach Yaw Acheampong

Date:

Ghana Premier League side, Aduana Stars have officially parted ways with head coach Yaw Acheampong following a disappointing start to the ongoing Ghana Premier League campaign.

The decision, confirmed by club CEO George Gyawu, comes after a string of poor results that have left the two-time Premier League champions struggling near the relegation zone.

The “Fire Boys” have managed only two wins from 12 matches, drawing six and losing four, accumulating just 12 points. This dismal form sees them in 13th position on the league table, far below their usual standards.

The final blow came over the weekend when Aduana suffered a 2-0 home defeat to Asante Kotoko at the Nana Agyemang Badu Park. A stunning free-kick by defender Patrick Asiedu and a strike from Albert Amoah secured victory for the Porcupine Warriors, intensifying pressure on Yaw Acheampong.

Speaking to Max.com.gh, George Gyawu explained the rationale behind the sacking:
“Yaw Acheampong has been relieved of his duties due to the team’s disappointing performance this season. By next week, we will appoint a new coach because when Aduana is in form, there is more competition in the league.”

In the interim, assistant coach Paul Tandoh has been tasked with managing the team until a substantive head coach is appointed.

Yaw Acheampong joined Aduana Stars last season, leading the team to a respectable 5th-place finish in the previous Ghana Premier League campaign. However, this season’s lackluster performances proved to be his undoing as the club looks to revive their fortunes under new leadership.
