Security will be at its highest during the 2026 World Cup. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has officially banned the use of drones around stadiums and major gatherings linked to the tournament.
On match days, a no-fly zone will be enforced within a radius of 3 nautical miles around sports venues, with altitude restricted to 3,000 feet.
No drones will be permitted in this area. Fan zones and public viewing sites will also be subject to special restrictions to eliminate any risk for supporters in attendance.
U.S. authorities have warned that any violation could result in extremely severe financial penalties, up to $100,000 in fines, as well as criminal prosecution.
To further tighten surveillance, the FBI will also deploy specialized drone-detection units around the 2026 World Cup stadiums.
