Neurologists warn parents against children exposure to screens

Date:

Neurologists and child development experts have expressed concerns about parents who exposed their children to screens.

‎According to them, the rise in screentime of children has negative effects on them, and they warned parents against it.

‎This was revealed by renowned broadcaster Nana Aba Anamoah, who raised concern over rising screen time among toddlers, urging parents to stop using devices as babysitters.

‎“Can we talk about toddlers being raised by screens these days? I get it that parents are tired—there are meals to cook, work to do, emails to respond to, and sometimes you really and truly just need a little peace of mind,” she said.

‎Nana Aba Anamoah stated that she spoke with neurologists and child development experts who warned parents not to expose their children to screens.

‎Instead, she urged parents to use books and puzzles to get their children to play with them while they indulge in home activities.

‎“A screen can truly keep a child quiet, but so can a book. And I’m not saying this because I’m a bibliophile, by the way, as somebody who loves books. It’s not just books that keep children engaged. Conversations, imaginative play, puzzles, coloring, and playing outside—indulging in outdoor activities are all very good activities for children to grow,” she added.
