Nigerian Afrobeats singer Kizz Daniel has called on musicians to stop chasing clout and focus on their craft.
According to him, many musicians are in haste for a number one hit song, thus are not ready to put in the work to last long in the industry.
Outpouring his concern in an X post, the “Buga” crooner indicated that working so hard as a musician and giving evergreen songs was the surest way to excel rather than clout-chasing.
“Leave social media algorithms; focus on your craft,” he advised.
Kizz Daniel mentioned four-time Grammy Awards winner Killer Mike as an artist whose success did not depend on social media trends and encouraged musicians to master their craft.
“Have you ever heard of a guy called Killer Mike? Guess not.. 4 Times Grammy winner, stop chasing the number 1 song; it’s meh now = everything can be controlled… Most of those song numbers don’t correlate on other platforms… check,“ he said.
Kizz Daniel is known for songs such as ‘Cough’, ‘Buga’, ‘Nesesari’, ‘Double’, ‘No Wahala’, and ‘Marhaba.’
