Former World Cup winner Thierry Henry has praised Africa’s representatives at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Nine out of the ten countries that qualified for the World Cup from Africa have reached the round of 32.
The DR Congo, after their 3-1 win over Uzbekistan, joined Algeria, Egypt, South Africa, Morocco, Ivory Coast, Cape Verde, Senegal, and Ghana in the next phase.
The expansion of the World Cup to 48 teams has certainly become of great benefit for African countries as they express eagerness to do better than before.
Meanwhile Asia has only two teams— Japan and Australia through to knockout stages after sending nine teams to the competition.
Thierry Henry in his submission on Fox Sports highlighted the importance of dual-nationality players choosing to represent the African teams, which eventually has become a contributing factor in Africa’s success so far.
Prior to this year’s tournament, only six African countries had ever qualified for the knockout stage.
