Saibari nears Asamoah Gyan’s record

Date:

Morocco’s Ismael Saibari becomes the first African player to score in every group stage match at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The 25-year-old Bayern Munich-bound striker ignited the tournament with an early goal against Brazil in a match that ended 1-1.

He then scored the only winning goal in a 1-0 victory over Scotland.

Facing Haiti, the former PSV Eindhoven found the net again to level the score at 2-2, as Morocco ended up being 4-2 winners.

With the pace at which Saibari is playing, he may soon end up either matching or breaking Asamoah Gyan’s record as Africa’s all-time top scorer at the World Cup.
