FC Ashantigold ’04 head coach Karim Zito has tipped Ghana to top Group L of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Ghana were drawn in their group alongside one-time world champions England, former World Cup semifinalists Croatia, and Panama.
The Black Stars got off to a bright start to the tournament with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Panama.
Next was the most anticipated tie of the group—Ghana versus England. The big dogs of England were expected to maul the humble Black Stars.
However, to the utmost surprise of everyone except fans of Ghana, England failed to cause any harm, as the African nation shut them out.
Reviewing the run so far by the Black Stars, the experienced Ghanaian coach Zito opined to Max TV’s Thierry Nyann that Ghana could end up topping Group L.
“Before this game [Ghana vs England] everybody wrote us out…At the end of the day football did its work. They were tactically disciplined. So this will give us the morale to fight and qualify… I will never be surprised if Ghana tops the group.”
