Parliament on Monday, July 28, 2025, honoured the memory of Ghanaian music icon Charles Kwadwo Fosu, widely known as Daddy Lumba, who passed away over the weekend at the Bank Hospital in Accra after a short illness.
In a Facebook post, Parliament revealed that tributes were led by Manhyia North MP, Akwasi Konadu, who described Daddy Lumba as “one of Ghana’s greatest musical legends, a true maestro whose influence transcended generations and borders.”
Konadu praised the late artist’s lasting impact on Ghana’s music scene, highlighting his timeless melodies, rich lyrics, and thought-provoking social messages. “His works were not just songs; they were experiences that touched hearts and stirred consciences,” he said.
Nsuta-Kwamang-Beposo MP, Adelaide Ntim, also spoke in the House, urging government to honour Daddy Lumba with a state-assisted funeral and national honours. She proposed the creation of initiatives to preserve and promote his legacy for future generations.
“Let us remember Charles Kwadwo Fosu not just with tears, but with pride, for the gift he was to our nation,” she said.
With a career spanning over three decades, Daddy Lumba is celebrated for his musical brilliance, versatility, and ability to capture the Ghanaian spirit through song. Parliament’s tribute reflects growing public calls for national recognition of his life’s work.
