Celebrated gospel group Daughters of Glorious Jesus says the group has never filed for the flagship awards in the country, the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA).
According to the trio, their goal in singing is to win souls to God and not to win any kind of award.
Speaking in a media interview, Daughters of Glorious Jesus stated that having the motive of soul winning also cushioned their choice of songs.
They indicated that songs sung by them had a sole purpose of impartation and emphasized the need for gospel ministers to change lives through music rather than focusing on singing to win awards.
That, the group said, had been their major driving force as gospel ministers to always preach God’s word through music.
“We’re not interested in picking forms for the VGMA because we are more focused on winning souls than the awards. Our calling is a unique one, and we don’t want to be distracted or deviated,” they said.
The “Bebre” hitmakers further stated that they would not purchase forms to fill out, but if nominated regardless, they would attend the event to even support it.
“If you want to do it for us, just go ahead and pick it; we’re ok,” they said.
The sisters acknowledged God for helping them receive many awards from all over the world in different award schemes without necessarily filing for nominations.
With a career spanning several decades, the renowned gospel group has become synonymous with inspirational and soul-stirring gospel tunes.
Their music, characterized by powerful vocals and spiritually uplifting messages, has garnered widespread acclaim.
The group, composed of Cynthia Appiadu, Edna Sarpong, and Monica Owusu Ansah, has several hits and evergreen tracks to their names.
