Kumawood actor, Kwaku Manu has lamented about the spate at which people from the creative space abandon the industry once they occupy governmental positions.
He observed that those individuals fail to draw government’s attention to address the prevailing challenges in the industry.
Speaking in a media interview, Kwaku Manu noted that they would rather change the narrative once they occupy the positions and cited Socrate Safo and Mark Okraku Mantey as those who have massively failed the industry.
He expressed disappointment in government for the country’s inability to build a cinema house for movie directors and producers to shoot movies.
“We use people’s houses and some of the scenes are in the night and early morning. Sometimes the person has to go to work but our shooting will be an hindrance. If not for the love and support, some might even shut their doors on us and all the previous scenes would be a waste,” he lamented.
In movie forward, Kwaku Manu said the industry needed a cinema village to help movie makers to ease some of the stress and to also boost tourism in the country.
