Former President John Dramani Mahama has generously awarded $10,000 to the national amputee soccer team, the Black Challenge, for clinching victory in the 2024 Africa Amputee Cup of Nations (AAFCON).
The Black Challenge exhibited remarkable determination and prowess, securing a thrilling 2-1 triumph over Morocco in the finals held in Egypt, successfully defending their title from the previous edition.
In his commendation, the former president lauded the team’s unwavering commitment and effort, declaring, “I am honored to endorse such a talented and resilient team. Your triumph is a testament to your exceptional abilities and perseverance.
” Samson Deen, President of the Ghana Paralympic Committee (GPC), remarked, “With their sensational win in the AAFCON, the Black Challenge has not only etched their names in amputee football history but also earned a highly anticipated berth at the 2026 World Amputee Football Cup in Panama.
This serves as a thrilling validation of their skills and a promise of more exhilarating matches to follow.”
