Gospel singer Jack Alolome has expressed worry about the rise in begging among musicians who are old in the industry.
He blamed the trend to the failure of Ghana Music Right Organization (GHAMRO) in paying them their needed royalty.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Max Morning Show in Accra on Friday, Alolome indicated the country royalty system was not effectively functioning.
”If you’re a musician in this country and you don’t set things right for yourself, you will grow and become a beggar. Our royalty system is not working. In abroad, a musician can milk from even one song he or she did in the past but here you can release many albums, yet you won’t gain any royalty,” he stated.
Alolome called on the government to strengthen the country’s loyalty system to ensure that musicians are secured and gained the needed money from their creative works.
