Yaya Toure has become the first African coach to lead a team in the Champions League’s league phase.

Toure’s Slovan Bratislava visited defending champions PSG in their league phase opener, which capped a remarkable two months in his first-ever head coaching job.

The 43-year-old was unbeaten in charge, with seven wins and two draws from his opening matches, but his date in Paris on Wednesday turned out different.

Toure was taught a footballing lesson by Luis Enrique’s PSG at the Parc de Prince. Bratislava shipped in 6 goals but managed to score one.

Ghana’s Rahim Brahim played a total of 59 minutes for the Slovak side in their baptism into the 2026/27 UEFA Champions League.
