Iñaki Williams Leaves Black Stars With Two Goals In 4 Years

Date:

On the morning of the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attack, Ghana’s very own Inaki Williams called time on his international career.

Sadly, the much celebrated Andalusian-born Ghanaian striker ended his four-year stint with the Black Stars after just 28 appearances.

Many welcomed the Spanish citizen into the Ghanaian fold, especially after discovering the inspirational migration of his parents from the motherland to greener pastures.

Others were not enthused as he appeared to have made Ghana his second choice after having been snubbed by La Roja over and over again.

Not able to take any no rejections from the Spanish national team, he finally accepted to play for the country of his parents following continuous pursuit by the Ghana Football Association ahead of the 2022 Qatar World Cup.

Kweku, as he was fondly known in the national team, made his debut against Brazil in an international friendly leading up to the World Cup.

The first of his only two goals for Ghana was a famous 1-0 victory in Kumasi over Madagascar in the 2023 AFCON qualifier. A goal that lives in the minds of millions of Ghanaians.

Born and raised with Spanish blood but bled true Ghanaian blood.
