‎Gh comedy is doing well on international market—James Brown

Date:

The vice president of the Ghana Comedians Network, James Brown, says Ghanaian comedy is one of the best marketable arts in the world.

‎According to him, gone are the days that Ghanaians had to rely on the Nigerian comedians to fill out auditoriums for comedies.

‎Speaking in an exclusive interview with Max Morning Show in Accra on Monday, James Brown stated that local comedians are now rubbing shoulders with Nigerian comedians, and they did not see their Nigerian counterparts as threats or competition.

‎” We don’t see Nigerians as threats. I see it as healthy competition because now I can boldly declare that Ghana’s comedy is doing better,” he stated.

‎James Brown maintained that local comedians have put in much work to the extent that they are now filling auditoriums both in Ghana and abroad, and cited OB Amponsah, Lekzy DeComic, and Kojo PJay as some of the comedians who have marketed Gh comedy well.

‎” Before we had to import comics somewhere to fill up spaces. Now you can do it with local guys. The place will fill up. Now GH Comedy is one of the best in the world, not only in Africa,” he added.
