The minister for education, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, is desperate to see adequate investment in technical and vocational education (TVET).
Hon. Iddrisu made his thoughts of TVET clear to the press while on a tour in Koforidua for the commencement of the nationwide examination.
“We have to invest more in technical and vocational education. Invest more in hands-on training in order to equip our young people for the competitive world of work,” he said.
A total of 55,295 candidates—made up of 40,339 males and 14,956 females—are taking part in the exams this year.
Mr Zakaria Sulemana, Director General of the CTVET, warned that any candidate, invigilator, examiner, or teacher found guilty of examination malpractice would face severe sanctions.
The exams are scheduled to end on July 7.
