Al Hilal kick out City of FIFA CWC

Date:

Manchester City have been knocked out of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup by Saudi Pro League giants Al Hilal.

The defending champions suffered a 3-4 defeat to the resilient Saudi team at the Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida.

Marcos Leonardo equalised for Al Hilal two minutes before halftime after Bernardo Silva’s 9th minute striker for City.

Former Barcelona winger Malcom grabbed the first of his brace in the 52nd minute as the Arabian team began well in the second half.

Erling Haaland quickly stamped his mark on the game three minutes later by restoring parity for the English side as it travelled to extra time.

Kalidou Koulibaly rose highest to head Al Hilal into the lead once more from a 94th minute corner, but Phil Foden reacted quickly to`Rayan Cherki’s cross for City’s equaliser.

With the match appearing to be settled from a penalty shootout, Malcom stunned fans yet again with a 112nd winner to send Al Hilal to the quarter-final.
