Rafatu Inusah Elected President of Ghana Rugby Football Union
Rafatu Inusah has been elected as the new President of the Ghana Rugby Football Union (GRFU) and will lead the organization for the next four years. Her election marks a significant milestone in Ghanaian rugby, as she becomes one of the few women to head a national rugby federation in Africa.
A former Board Member of the GRFU, Inusah ran unopposed in the elections and now succeeds Herbert Mensah, who currently serves as the President of Rugby Africa. With a strong background in the sport, she has played a crucial role in the development of rugby in Ghana, particularly in promoting women’s participation at various levels.
Her journey in rugby began as an athlete before transitioning into coaching and later assuming key administrative roles. Over the years, she has been instrumental in grassroots rugby development, player mentorship, and advocating for gender inclusion in the sport.
Beyond her national responsibilities, Inusah is also a respected figure on the international stage. She serves as a member of the Women’s Advisory Committee of Rugby Africa, where she contributes to policies and initiatives aimed at expanding the role of women in rugby across the continent.
As she steps into her new leadership role, expectations are high for her tenure, with hopes that she will strengthen the structures of Ghanaian rugby, enhance youth development programs, and improve the country’s standing in international competitions.
