0

The communicators of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has been urged to make the party’s record the main focus of their campaign.

According to a statement released by the campaign team of the NPP for the 2020 polls, all party communicators must desist from attacking the personality of their political opponents.

The NPP campaign team emphasized that no communicator should refer to an opponent’s ethnicity, gender, or religion during the period of campaigning.

“The President of the Republic of Ghana and presidential candidate of the NPP and the 2020 campaign team, wish to remind its faithful, that the party’s philosophy of positive engagement still holds valid,” the statement said.

“We, therefore, urge all who speak for or purport to speak for the party to refrain from attacking political opponents. We specifically ask that no reference should ever be made to opponents’ ethnicity, religion, or gender.”

Campaign on our record- NPP campaign team to communicators

The President of the Republic of Ghana and presidential candidate of the NPP and the 2020 campaign team, wish to remind its faithful, that the party’s philosophy of positive engagement still holds valid.

We, therefore, urge all who speak for or purport to speak for the party to refrain from attacking political opponents. We specifically ask that no reference should ever be made to opponents’ ethnicity, religion, or gender.

We shall campaign on our record and win. Indeed, there is enough to speak about with regard to our record. We cannot beat our opponents in the politics of calumny. Let us therefore refrain.

SGN.

Hon. Dr. Mustapha Abdul-Hamid

Deputy Manager

NPP 2020 Campaign Team

John Mahama: NDC have proven track record of providing leadership

0

The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has said that his party has a proven track record of leadership.

Former president John Mahama, addressing a meeting of his campaign team over the weekend in Accra, said this is the time Ghana needs a pragmatic leader in the face of the coronavirus pandemic, but it is missing.

John Mahama added:” In times of adversity the NDC has showed leadership”.

The former president expressed his gratitude to the national executives, the members and supporters of the party for supporting his choice of nomination Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang as Running Mate for this year’s presidential election.

Ken Agyapong: Jane Naana should compare herself with NAPO and not intelligent Bawumia

0

Kennedy Agyapong, the Member of Parliament(MP) for Assin Central, says the running mate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang can only be compared with Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh and not Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

The running mate of John Dramani Mahama for the 2020 polls, has on several platforms been compared with the Vice President of Ghana, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

According to the Members of the National Democratic Congress, her appointment as a running mate will bring sanity to the Vice President’s office when the NDC wins power in 2021 because she brings on board an impeccable personality and not a soiled reputation like the “dishonest Bawumia”.

Speaking on her appointment for the first time, Kennedy Agyapong, however, said Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang cannot be compared to Dr. Bawumia but should be compared with the current Education Minister.

“We will bring her record. When she became Education Minister. You cannot compare the woman to the Vice President because he’s the sitting Vice President who has done so well. If you look at the history of Ghana and all the old Presidents we have had, it’s only President Akufo-Addo who has given the Vice President chance to shine and you know Dr. Bawumia is intelligent so he has shined.

So now when you come with a woman and you think the woman will brighten your political fortunes you are lying, you cannot win. We are not comparing Jane Naana to Bawumia, we are comparing her to NAPO. So you have to look at what NAPO has done as Education Minister then you assess what she did as Education Minister then you can tell if she will be a competent Vice President to help Mahama.

Mahama is a blockheaded person and he’s gone to bring this woman. From next week we will dissect all the issues in politics,” he said on Accra-based TV station.

Franklin Cudjoe: Not all Free SHS students will vote for Akufo-Addo

0

Franklin Cudjoe, the President of IMANI-Africa, has given a warning that not all final year students will vote in the same way during the December elections.

According to Franklin Cudjoe, it would be misleading to conclude and assume that all final year students will vote for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Speaking in relation to those who are of the notion that the students are “Akufo-Addo” graduates due to the Free SHS policy, Mr. Cudjoe said “Not all these students will vote in a particular way.”

He was speaking on an Accra-based TV station on Saturday and also said “It is not as if these students are necessarily Akufo-Addo’s graduates as has been suggested.”

Franklin Cudjoe further reacted to the decision by the Electoral Commission (EC) to extend the voters registration exercise to Senior High Schools(SHS).

In the view of IMANI-Africa boss, the EC could have been more pragmatic by engaging the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) before going ahead with such plans.

“I think they would have been more pragmatic if they had engaged the NDC and indeed all the other parties prior to this confusion,” Mr. Cudjoe said.

The National Democratic Congress has, meanwhile, dragged the Electoral Commission to court over its decision to start registering secondary school students in schools.

The NDC contends that it is illegal and wrongful for registration to take place at any place that was not contained in a Gazette and notification in accordance with C.I 91.

Therefore, they want the court to rule that any such registration is null and void and of no legal effect.
