“I borrowed money to pay my own transfer fee to Great Olympics” – Richard Kingson

Date:

Former Black Stars goalkeeper, Richard “Olele” Kingson, has revealed that he had to borrow money to pay for his own transfer to Accra Great Olympics.

The former Birmingham City shot-stopper disclosed this on Max TV when he was a guest on the Black Stars Classics – World Cup Edition.

“I was at Agbozome Weavers FC and decided to do a justifier at Great Olympics. I was picked but I had signed a 1-year deal with Agbozome and they wanted a transfer fee from Olympics but the Accra-based side were unwilling to pay. I then had to borrow money from my agent and pay.”

Richard Kingson is hailed as one of the best goalkeepers Ghana has ever produced.

The player also revealed that after agreeing to a full deal, he was promised 100,000 cedis at the time which has still not been honoured up to date.

“We are in 2020 but i have not received that money yet. I will wait because maybe one day, I will be paid by Olympics”

He made a name in Turkey, played in England, before rejoining Great Olympics to retire.

He was in post for the Black Stars in the 2006 and 2010 World Cups.
