Okyeame Kwame, in an interview, on Friday 11th September, with Heavy Dee on Max 89.7 FM’s KETEKE Show, said;

“Don’t sit down for someone you have not seen for four (4) years to come to your constituency and buy you a machete or buy you a gun and tell you to follow him and act like a hooligan so that he will win an award or election.

Because when he wins he will give you that GHc 500, GHc 1000 and GHc 2000 you will not see him in the next four (4) years.”

Dr Bawumia: It’s only the NPP government that brings development to the grassroots

0

Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the Vice President of Ghana, has said that it is only the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government that brings development to the grassroots when it is in power as opposed to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government that, he claims, engages in nonexistent projects.

Dr Bawumia, speaking at Bulenga in the Wa East District of the Upper West Region, Tuesday, gave a litany of achievements attained by the governing NPP, insisting that there is a huge economic management gap between the NDC and the NPP, with the NPP being much better managers of the economy than the NDC.

“An economy under under their management couldn’t afford GHC 70 million[ whereas the NPP has raised GHC 27 billion]. And we paid 27 billion. That is the gap between incompetent management and competent management.

You have seen that when the NPP is in power, development comes to the grassroots. And we are not talking about the Green Book type of development. I am talking about fiili fiili development. In Wa East here, you can attest to what the NPP has done; the projects that we have brought to this constituency,” Dr Bawumia said.

The Vice President therefore urged the people to renew the mandate of the NPP so that they can witness more development.

“I have heard the Bulenga Naa (Chief of Bulenga) very loud and clear on the creation of a new district. We will take that onboard and the upgrade of the hospital…And that is why we need four more to do more for you. So please vote massively, Insha Allah, and make Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo the next President and bring Salifu Yakubu to Parliament,” he appealed.

Asiedu Nketia: ‘The People’s Manifesto’ to solve underdevelopment problems

0

Johnson Asiedu Nketia, General Secretary of the opposition NDC believes the party’s 2020 People’s Manifesto will go a long way in solving the country’s developmental issues.

According to Asiedu Nketia, the manifesto was inspired by the ordinary Ghanaian after the party had interviewed and listened to them across the country. “We are presenting to you a manifesto that was not developed by leaders of a party who have arrogated themselves the power of thinking for other people. We are presenting to you the product of the people’s own thinking,” Mr Asiedu Nketia said during the NDC’s manifesto launch on Monday evening.

Asiedu Nketia indicated that the NDC has always used the approach of “thinking outside the box” in all its dealings, adding that the thoughts of the people were compiled, “polished and developed into implementable programmes”.

He said, ‘The People’s Manifesto’ was inspired by the people and that he was “very confident that the age-long problem of underdevelopment for this country is going to be solved once and for all by the people’s manifesto”.

“We asked the people how they would want to see Ghana in the next four years; what country they envision to live in, in the next four years and how to build that country and it is out of that conversation that the People’s Manifesto was developed,” he added.

The manifesto was put together by 21 persons within the NDC and it is divided into six key areas: fixing the economy, promoting human development, providing infrastructure for growth, providing decent jobs, good governance and corruption, and deepening international relations and foreign affairs.

Togbe Afede XIV: You don’t love the club more than those of us investing our monies

0

Togbe Afede XIV, Accra Hearts of Oak Executive Chairman, has urged the fans of the club to be patient and keep supporting the club as measures are being put in place to ensure that the club returns to its winning ways.

Accra Hearts of Oak have been without a major trophy for over a decade now which Togbe Afede said management continues to invest money into the club and the fans have the responsibility to also play.

According to Togbe Afede, no supporter loves the club more than those who are investing their monies into the club. This he said in response to claims that he is not passionate about the club.

“They should also remember that they can’t love the club more than those who are spending money and their time”, he said after the unveiling of the team’s partnership agreement with StarLife Assurance.

“Those noises don’t help the club. It took 30 years but Liverpool finally won the Premier League title. Genuine fans learn to support and appreciate what management is doing”, he said during the launch of the team’s partnership with StarLife Assurance.

“Negativity makes it hard to strike a relationship like this because nobody doesn’t want to be associated with a bad product. So they have a responsibility to support what we are doing”, he added.

He is delighted to have a player of Essien’s pedigree on the coaching team.

“Essien left a very positive impression here during his visit and we continued the dialogue with him after he had left,” he told the club’s website.

“We felt, he was excited by what he experienced here through our philosophy, the people he met at the club, and that our environment inspired him.

”At the same time, Michael’s visit gave us a clear impression of how much a coaching staff member on the pitch, as an active part of the training with the players, can contribute and add.

“That part we are really looking forward to further developing, and we are very happy that it can happen through and with such a football- and human capacity as Michael Essien is.”

According to Head coach Flemming Pederson , in his short stint with the club, Essien demonstrated that he was hungry for knowledge and was focused on making a smooth transition from playing to coaching.

“In the coaching staff we’ve experienced Michael Essien as both curious and hungry for knowledge before and after the training sessions, but at the same time also contributing and giving among the players during the trainings.

”His career and experience speak for themselves, but when you add his humble and giving personality, this is an exceptional opportunity for us to get a person added to the staff who can help make our environment, even more, developing for our players and also add valuable input to the coaching team and be our hand on the training pitch.

”We are very much looking forward to welcoming Michael to FCN.”

Nordsjaelland has strong ties with Ghana through the Right To Dream Academy which nurtures talents from Ghana.

The club has over nine Ghanaian players on their books with former Asante Kotoko coach Mas-ud Didi Dramani in their coaching ranks.

Ghana’s Amb. to China: ‘AfCFTA will resolve trade conflicts on the continent’

0

Edward Boateng, Ghana’s Ambassador to China, believes that the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) will present numerous opportunities to the continent and resolve petty trade disagreements amongst countries.

With the AfCFTA bringing a lot of countries together, Edward Boateng is of the view that intra-trading amongst countries will increase trade and present the continent with a large part of the agricultural profitability cake.

There has been an existing trade feud between Nigerian traders in Ghana and Ghanaian traders following concerns raised by Ghanaian traders that foreigners have taken over the retail business which has been designated to Ghanaians under the GIPC Act 2013 (Act 865). This has led to the forceful closure of Nigerian owned shops by the Ghana Union of Traders Association.

Reacting to the above and the recent visit to Ghana by Nigeria’s speaker to resolve trade issues posed to him on an Accra-based FM station, he said;

“I think if we can resolve the issue of production, some of these issues will resolve themselves. Why do we have our people engage a lot in petty trading? I believe it is because we lack opportunities that is why we face these problems. But the AfCFTA will help us get lots of these opportunities.”

He said that Africa is spending billions to import rice and other products but if the continent starts producing in large quantities and trading amongst each other by the truck loads, there will not be petty squabbles.

He noted with the recent COVID-19 pandemic, there has been a predicted increase in food prices and with Africa readily positioned, it will benefit largely.

“The AfCFTA presents huge advantages and we need to position ourselves to enjoy them,” he stated.

Revealing that the European Union (EU) has its own problems, H.E Boateng furthered that the AfCFTA will also have its own problems but “we will resolve it”. “The EU has its challenges but because of their number, they always have a sit down and resolve their differences.”

Ambassador Boateng motioned that with Africa increasing its productivity and with the consolidation under the AfCFTA, the continent can get a seat at the table which will translate to favorable pricing for “our produce and create for us a huge advantage”.

“It is not going to be an overnight success but we have to do it for our people to live well,” he reiterated.

Tanzania’s Ambassador to China, H.E. Mbelwa Brighton Kairuki, who was also part of the discussion on the theme; “Agriculture: Africa’s Post COVID-19 recovery catalyst?” revealed that by 2030, consumption of agricultural products will rise to about 1 trillion.

He advised governments on the continent to invest a lot more in their agriculture sector as Asia and other continents have started investing into the profitable future of agriculture.

“We are grateful to our regional leaders and we thank Ghana for hosting AfCFTA. It is a great idea and will make a huge impact on our continent,” he ended.

The African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) is a free trade area which is interested in accelerating intra-African trade and boosting Africa’s trading position in the global market by strengthening Africa’s common voice and policy space in global trade negotiations.

Accra, Ghana serves as the Secretariat of AFCFTA and was commissioned and handed over to the AU by the President of Ghana His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo on August 18, 2020.

Dr Abdul-Hamid: NPP has superior track record in fulfilling manifesto promises

0

The Deputy Campaign Manager of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, has said the Party has superior track records in fulfilling campaign manifesto promises as against the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Party.

According to Dr Abdul-Hamid, over the years, the NPP had been faithful with Ghanaians by fulfilling most of its promises and, thus, urged voters in the December polls to endeavour to judge the two political parties based on their achievements.

“The 2020 presidential polls is unique in the sense that this is the first time the two main candidates -President Akufo-Addo and former President John Mahama have been Presidents before.

“Therefore, voters should judge the two candidates based on their track records when they had the opportunity to serve the country,” Dr Hamid emphasised.

Also the Minister of Inner City and Zongo Development, Dr Abdul-Hamid made these remarks at a news conference in Accra, on Monday.

The media encounter was a platform for the NPP to provide further perspectives on which political party and presidential candidate best qualified to lead the nation.

Dr Abdul-Hamid was of the conviction that anyone with clear and objective mind when analysing the achievements of President Akufo-Addo and Mr Mahama, would conclude that Nana Addo’s track record far outshined that of Mahama in every stretch of imagination.

He mentioned some of the NPP government’s fulfilled promises, including the Free Senior High School policy, restoration of teacher and nursing trainee allowances, planting for Food and Jobs, One-Constituency-One-Ambulance, establishment of Zongo Development Fund, One-Village – One-Dam, provision of government scholarships to 40 Zongo students to study medicine in Cuba and One-District-One-Factory.

Dr Abdul-Hamid said “Mahama has nothing to show for the period he had the opportunity to serve the country because he is “no keeper of promises, unlike President Akufo-Addo.”

” Therefore, track records should be the basis for electability for the 2020 elections.

“Those with good intentions make good promises, but those with good character keep their promises.”

The Deputy NPP Campaign Manager also condemned the NDC Flagbearer for endorsing what he called “a tribal-laced article” that sought to create disunity in the country and asked Mr Mahama to apologise unreservedly.

John Mahama to Ghanaians: We’ll keep our NDC Manifesto promise

0

John Dramani Mahama, the largest opposition NDC Flagbearer, has said he will not relent on delivering his party’s promises captured in the 2020 manifesto if he wins power come December,07,2020.

In a Facebook post, he said “We have listened to you, we have signed a social contract with you and we will keep our promise.”

John Mahama expressed the NDC’s appreciation to all the groups and individuals whose suggestions and contributions formed the basis of the Party’s 2020 Manifesto, the People’s Manifesto. On Monday, September 7, 2020, the largest opposition National Democratic Party (NDC) launched its 2020 manifesto ahead of the December 7 general elections.

The event was held at the University of Professional Studies, in Accra.

Professor Danso Boafo, who is the Chairman of the Manifesto Committee of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), stated that the NDC’s manifesto is based on verifiable and reliable data.

Giving his remarks at the manifesto launch of the opposition NDC, Prof. Danso said the NDC’s manifesto titled ‘The People’s Manifesto’ was well researched and contained views taken from people across the country.
