Renowned reggae musician Blakk Rasta has dismissed claims that he accused media personality Deloris Frimpong, popularly known as Delay of Buying, of voting at the Radio and Television Personality (RTP) awards.
According to him, he rather accused her of buying votes at the Presenters Guide reality show, which was also put together by the Chief Executive Officer of Radio and Television Personality (RTP) Awards, Prince Mackay.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Max Drive in Accra on Thursday, the controversial radio presenter insisted that he never said anywhere that Delay bought her RTP awards and urged Ghanaians to disregard such news.
“I blame Rasta; I never said anywhere that Delay paid money for her to be given her RTP awards. I never said that, and there’s no story like that. That’s a shame; it’s a lie! I never said she bought votes for the RTP; she bought votes for the Presenters Guide,” he explained.
Touching on the Presenters Guide, Blakk Rasta indicated that it was a powerful show that brought about 10 media personalities, including Andy Dosty, Mufty Dabre, and Delay, among others, together from across the nation on television to compete.
However, he realized that Delay had been buying votes and also sponsored people to be at the venue to gear her up so that “when her name was mentioned, the whole place would erupt just like a volcanic eruption.”
Blakk Rasta said based on vote buying and sponsorship, the organizers of the program made their judgment on that to evict those competing.
“When I thought it was fans who were voting, it was rather one person sitting somewhere to buy the votes. I never knew that because I remember my boss saying he had voted countless times for me. The highest vote I got was from Nana Kwesi Agyemang; now he is the boss of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA). Fans were just voting one-on-one, but my boss voted five in a row,” he said.
