Paul Kwasi Anyaba has shared updates on the upcoming Nsenkyre Cup, outlining the club’s readiness, organisational arrangements, and ongoing recruitment efforts.
According to Anyaba, the clubs are prepared to participate in the tournament. While the road conditions to the venue are not ideal, the location is not far from where the teams are based. The organisers have put the necessary measures in place for a successful event. The tournament is sanctioned by the Amateur Football (AF), with the referee department of the Ghana Football Association (GAF) taking charge of officiating. Accommodation for the participating teams is being handled solely by the organisers.
The original plan was to stage an eight-team tournament. However, following the incident that occurred in Samaraboi, accommodation challenges forced a reduction to four teams. Attempts were made to include established sides such as Asante Kotoko or Hearts of Oak, but those efforts did not materialise. As a result, the organisers requested the involvement of a foreign team to complete the lineup.
Anyaba noted that the competition will also serve as an opportunity to assess coach Nana Kwesi Agyemang. The coach has appealed to fans to come out in numbers and support the team both in the tournament and as the new season approaches.
On the recruitment front, the club has secured several new players. Among them is a number 10, Jasen Bediako, whom Anyaba urged supporters to watch closely. He emphasised that the club operates a proper scouting system and is therefore not concerned about the quality of arrivals.
“We believe in Division One and Division Two players,” Anyaba stated. “Isaac Afful, who plays for the Black Stars, came from Division One, so we have trust in these players. We also have Premier League players in the squad.”
The Nsenkyre Cup is expected to provide valuable competitive minutes and help the technical team evaluate the squad ahead of the new campaign.
