The Chief Executive Officer of Wembley Sports Construction, Robert Tetteh Coleman, is ready to construct some of the extra one hundred new artificial pitches across the country before the end of the year, as promised by President Akufo Addo.
Akufo-Addo made this revelation during the official commissioning of the newly constructed Borteyman Sports Complex earlier on Tuesday.
”Our government has shown its commitment to sports development by investing significantly in the area of infrastructure. When I came into office, there were only three astroturfs, or artificial pitches, in the country.
”We have constructed over 150 artificial pitches to change the status quo. I am happy to announce that this will not be the end. We will construct 100 more of such pitches to enhance the existing infrastructure,” President Akufo-Addo said.
Coleman’s company is the leading astroturf installer in the country, contributing to over 60% of existing synthetic playing surfaces across Ghana.
Since 2017, Coleman’s vision has resulted in the creation of the ‘One Constituency, One Astro Turf’ mantra, an ambitious drive towards ensuring every single one of the 275 constituencies across Ghana is serviced with an astro turf.
Wembley Sports Construction delivered its first synthetic grass in 2014 for the people of Kotobabi and its environs. Since then, the company has constructed and manages over 60 others across Ghana, including one in Walewale Zongo in the Northern region, Kyebi Zongo in the Eastern region and Madina Zongo in Greater Accra.
