Godfred Akoto Boafo fires incompetent sports minister, NSA boss

Date:

Celebrated broadcast journalist Godfred Akoto Boafo has expressed his displeasure and dissatisfaction at the performance of the incumbent minister of youth and sports, Hon. Mustapha Ussif.

According to Boafo, well known as one to express his opinions without fear or favor, was reacting to the Confederation of Africa Football’s (CAF) decision to withdraw its approval for the use of the Baba Yara Sports Stadium ahead of Ghana’s next 2025 AFCON qualifier against Kwesi Appiah’s Sudan on October 11.

Speaking to Max FM, Akoto Boafo blamed the minister for youth of sports and the director general of the National Sports Authority (NSA).

“I won’t mince words. I have never seen such an incompetent bunch such as the sports minister and the NSA guy [Dodzie Numekevor].

Mustapha Ussif knows nothing about his role as sports minister. He is easily manipulated. He is just happy to be the sports minister,” he said.

Akoto Boafo, furthermore highlighted the incompetencies of the two aforementioned government officials, whom he believes are the downfall of sports in Ghana.

“Unfortunately for us, those tasked to help him do the work—I’m referring to the NSA — are problematic. With these people at the helm, how will the work be done well?

We went from Isaac Asiamah, a horrible sports minister, to Mustapha Ussif, another horrible sports minister. That is eight years of wasting our time. What were you expecting? That is eight years just gone. In those eight years, it is more than enough time to destroy the facilities in conjuction with the incompetent people they have placed at the National Sports Authority to run them,” he added.

Following CAF’s directive to move Ghana’s next home matches away from the country, Togo and Ivory Coast are now being considered as possible hosts for the country’s international matches.
