Speaking on Max FM’s Max Morning Dew, hosted by Abena Mozeeno and CJ Winters, Prof. Wiafe discussed key issues surrounding breast cancer, including possible warning signs, prevention and the importance of early detection.
The discussion formed part of activities marking Breast Cancer Awareness Month, with the programme providing listeners with practical information on breast health and the need to pay attention to changes in the body.
Prof. Wiafe encouraged women to become familiar with their breasts and to take unusual changes, including lumps and other abnormalities, seriously. He stressed the importance of seeking appropriate medical attention when such changes are noticed.
He also encouraged couples to support breast health awareness within their relationships. According to him, husbands can assist their wives in noticing unusual changes or lumps through gentle examination of the breast.
Prof. Wiafe further challenged the common perception that breast cancer affects only women, pointing out that men can also develop the disease. He disclosed that he had attended to male patients who had been diagnosed with breast cancer at his facility.
On lifestyle and nutrition, Prof. Wiafe urged the public to pay greater attention to their dietary choices and overall way of life. He cautioned against excessive consumption of certain processed and canned foods and encouraged healthier eating habits as part of a broader approach to maintaining good health.
He noted that while lifestyle and dietary choices are important aspects of overall health, people should also remain vigilant about changes in their breasts and seek professional medical assessment where necessary.
The discussion forms part of Max Morning Dew’s commitment to using its platform to educate the public on important health and social issues.
As Breast Cancer Awareness Month continues, the programme reinforced the importance of breast health awareness, healthy lifestyle choices, early detection and timely medical attention in the fight against breast cancer.
