Isaac Koomson, a management member of Aduana FC, has stated that support from the Ghana Football Association (GFA) will hamper his chances of becoming GHALCA chairman.
Once a former vice-chairman for the Ghana League Clubs Association in an era described as one of the incompetent in its history, Mr. Koomson claims he would not accept any form of support from the GFA to win the upcoming GHALCA elections.
Mr. Koomson is going up against John Ansah, who is believed to be the preferred choice of the Ghana Football Association.
“GHALCA is a separate entity. You don’t need support from GFA to become a chairman. I will be surprised if he endorses me. I will be extremely worried because members will feel uncomfortable because they want somebody who is independently minded at GHALCA, so I wouldn’t even like to have an endorsement from the FA president,” he said in an exclusive interview on Max FM’s Sports Pack show.
Though making his feelings about the influence of the GFA on GHALCA clear, he intends to unite the factions of the football fraternity for the growth of the discipline in the country.
