Bawumia Supports Lumba One-Week Observance

Date:

The family of the late highlife legend Daddy Lumba has received support from the former Vice President and NPP presidential hopeful, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.‎

The former Veep extended his support to the bereaved family as preparations advance for the musician’s one-week observance.

On Tuesday, August 26, 2025, a delegation led by Abusuapanin Kofi Owusu of the Ekuona Royal Family of Nsuta, together with Madam Afia Akoto, former Deputy CEO of MASLOC, paid a courtesy call on Dr Bawumia at his office to officially announce Lumba’s passing and invite him to the commemoration.

The one-week celebration is scheduled for Saturday, August 30, 2025, at the University of Ghana’s Legon Sports Stadium.

Fulfilling a promise he made during a visit to the singer’s East Legon residence in July 2025, Dr Bawumia donated GH₵100,000 to support preparations.

The donation was presented to the family through the former Majority Leader of Parliament, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu.

Dr Bawumia also pledged additional support towards the funeral, which will be held in the Ashanti Region at a date yet to be announced.
