Former General Manager of Accra Great Olympics, Eric Alagidede, has warned against underrating Somalia.
The Black Stars of Ghana would be on a redemption mission when they take on Somalia in a double header of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
With an interim coaching staff in place, led by Black Queens of Ghana head coach Kim Lars Bjoekegren, fans expect a turnaround of fortunes following a torrid start to the qualifiers.
“You see, the mistake people make is that they think it is just Somalia. Now every country understands how to play football, so when you underrate a country, you are doing it at your own peril,” Alagidede said on Max FM’s Sports Pack show.
He further urged the current handlers of the Black Stars that local players should not be assembled to face the Somalians due to the growing calls of their inclusion.
Also, Alagidede advised that only deserving players, either foreign or locally based, should be invited to spark a fighting chance to reach the 2027 AFCON.
