Takyi Arhin, the chief executive officer of Aduana Stars, retaliated against Seydou Zerbo for attributing his team’s MTN FA Cup loss to referee Amadu Ibrahim.
On Sunday, February 26, 2023, Aduana Stars defeated Asante Kotoko 1-0 to eliminate them from the MTN FA Cup tournament, ending their chances of capturing a double in the current season.
Aduana Stars’ penalty in the game was questioned, and Seydou Zerbo, who was also dissatisfied with the refereeing, bemoaned the fact that the home team threatened the official at halftime to issue a penalty.
“Yes we were defeated but the referee won the match for Aduana Fc. I’m not somebody who talks too much about referees but the way they threatened the referee in the halftime, that’s why the referee changed his mind,” Zerbo said after the game.
Takyi Arhin responded to the assertion by dismissing it and saying that it was just a coach’s confusion complaining.
“This is just effusions and lamentations of a confused and underperformed coach,” Takyi Arhim said.
Asante Kotoko is now in third place in the Ghana Premier League standings with 28 points after 18 games, while Aduana Stars are currently in first place with 35 points.
