Sam Pee Yalley, the former Ghanaian High Commissioner to India and influential member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has passed away. He died on Sunday at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, leaving the political and diplomatic communities in mourning.
While the cause of death has yet to be confirmed, his sudden passing has prompted an outpouring of tributes from political leaders. Alban Bagbin, Speaker of Parliament, was among the first to express condolences, remembering Yalley as a “brother and friend.” Bagbin praised his significant contributions to the NDC, particularly his leadership as President of the NDC Professionals Forum, calling him “a champion of professionalism in politics.”
A seasoned lawyer and diplomat, Sam Pee Yalley served as the Deputy CEO of the National Pensions Regulatory Authority before being appointed Ghana’s Ambassador to India in 2014 by President John Mahama. Throughout his tenure, he was known for promoting Ghana’s international relations and advocating for the country’s interests abroad.
Beyond his diplomatic career, Yalley was also celebrated for his advocacy, especially his efforts to promote female leadership in Ghana. His dedication to social causes and professionalism earned him respect across the political landscape.
