Resign if you’re tired— Nawaane to doctors

Date:

Member of Parliament for Nabdam, Hon. Dr Kurt Nawaane, has urged medical doctors disillusioned or tired of the profession to resign.

The Chair of the Health Committee of Parliament, Dr Nawaane, made this comment after the release of the Akosua Committee findings.

The Akosa Committee, set up to probe the unavoidable death of Promasidor Ghana’s employee Charles Amissah who was bounced around from on medical center to the other after suffering an accident on February 6, presented its findings.

The three-member Akosa Committee disclosed that Amissah’s death could have been avoided if he had prompt medical care.

“And the pathology confirms a slow death from medical neglect, and was not from the instant trauma,” said Chair of the Committee, Prof. Agyemang Badu Akosa on Wednesday, May 6, 2026.

Reacting to the findings, Dr Nawaane was extremely appalled, while emphatically advising doctors exhausted from the medical profession should resign.

“If you are a medical professional and you are tired of the work, you can resign. Ghana will survive without you.”
