The former Chief Executive Officer of the glorious Accra Hearts of Oak, Harry Zakour, has urged the president of the Ghana Football Association to reappoint Laryea Kingston as head coach of the Black Starlets of Ghana.
Harry Zakour, a veteran football administrator, appealed in an interview with Asempa FM to the top brass of Ghana football to consider rehiring the retired footballer despite his seemingly rushed decision to quit the national under-17 side of Ghana following a disappointing defeat to Burkina Faso in the semifinal of the WAFU Zone B championship in Accra last month.
Laryea Kingston’s free-scoring side had been enjoying a winning run since losing a UEFA 4-nations tournament opener to Russia in April before suffering a shock defeat to Burkina Faso in May during the WAFU Zone B, which crashed their hopes of qualifying for the U-17 AFCON.
The former Right to Dream trainer dramatically resigned from his position as the Black Starlets head coach during the post-match presser, which received mixed reactions from the public.
“If you lose one match, it does not mean it is the end. You have to continue. The way I saw him fighting with his boys was wrong. If the boys have gone to lose a match, you don’t fight them. You are not playing with a small team. Go on building the team… I plead with Kurt (the GFA president) to take him back,” said Zakour.
