2025 UNITY CUP: Nigeria’s Super Eagles land in London

Date:

The Super Eagles Unity Cup journey has officially begun as the Nigerian national team arrived in London on Sunday for the invitational tournament, where they will battle traditional rivals Ghana and Jamaica.

Departing from the Murtala Mohammed International Airport in Lagos, the squad includes standout talents from the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), as well as members of the coaching and support staff.

Leading the local contingent are Ahmed Musa, Ifeanyi Oyebuchi, Papa Daniel, Nduka Junior, Sadiq Ismaila, and Waliu Ojetoye — all handpicked by head coach Eric Chelle for the prestigious competition.

Other local-based invitees include Collins Ugwueze, Saviour Isaac, Abubakar Adamu, and Sikiru Alimi. These players will be joined in London by their foreign-based counterparts, with full team training scheduled to commence on Monday morning.

The Super Eagles’ first match will be a highly anticipated clash against long-time rivals, the Black Stars of Ghana, on Tuesday, 27 May, at the Gtech Community Stadium in Brentford. The Unity Cup continues Nigeria’s international schedule, which also includes a separate friendly against Russia in Moscow on Friday, 6 June, with a different squad.

For fans and stakeholders, the Unity Cup offers a key opportunity to assess Nigeria’s depth and form ahead of upcoming competitions. Learn more about the Super Eagles squad on NFF’s official website and stay updated on Unity Cup fixtures via BBC Sport.
