Ghanaian league champions FC Samartex have been knocked out of the 2024-25 CAF Champions League group stages qualifying round.
Samartex suffered a 2-0 defeat to Moroccan giants Raja Club Athletic in Casablanca on Saturday evening after drawing 2-2 in the first leg at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, September 15.
Marouane Zila gave Raja the lead against the Timber Boys just before half-time, as Nahoufel Zerhouni sealed the home side’s safe passage to the group stages with the second goal of the game in the 88th minutes.
While in Algiers on the same day, the 2023-24 MTN FA Cup winners Nsoatreman FC lost 1-0 to CS Constantine in the qualifiers for the group stages of the 2024-25 CAF Confederation Cup.
Zakaria Benchaa scored his third of the two-legged series against Nsoatreman after scoring the only goal in the second leg at the Stade Mohammed-Hamlaoui.
The 2024-25 CAF Inter-Club competitions will have no club representing Ghana after FC Samartex and Nsoatreman FC were both knocked out by North African opponents.
