Celebrated dancehall musician, Charles Nii Armah Mensah, known in the entertainment fraternity as Shatta Wale, has appealed to President John Dramani Mahama to introduce reforms that will enhance the country’s entertainment industry.
According to him, the reforms will attract young talents to make life more convenient for them.
The On God hitmaker made the passionate plea in a Facebook post on January 13, 2025.
“Letter to our new President of Ghana. I wish our new president, John Dramani Mahama, can also reform our music system to attract more professionals on radio and television, similar to the appointment of new ministers when they assume power,” he said.
Shatta Wale further noted that the industry needed a total transformation to propel the youth for the brighter future.
“The entertainment industry needs that change. The younger ones coming can’t go through what some of us have been through. My humble wish… just for the next generations to come and see this music business as a job and not just fun,” he added.
The Shatta Movement leader has consistently championed a focus on the business aspect of Ghana’s entertainment sector, urging stakeholders to create an environment where the industry is viewed as a viable career path.
Shatta Wale’s call for reform aligns with his belief that a professionalised system would make the entertainment industry more appealing and sustainable for the younger generation.
