The family of Nana Yaw Odoru Boateng, popularly known as Funny Face, has appealed for support for the comedian after he hit a woman and her two grandchildren at Kasoa in the Central Region on Sunday, March 24, 2024.
They stated that the incident had already occurred, and they had to forge ahead to settle all those involved in the damage caused.
In a media interview, Ernest Agyekwa, the paternal uncle of Funny Face, stated that the comedian was in a low moment and needed all the support he could get.
He admitted that Funny Face at times acted unbearable, but he pleaded for prayers and financial assistance to sort out those who were deeply affected by the accident, as the family also did their quota to help the comedian get back on his feet.
Agyekwa maintained that the 60-year-old woman and her two grandchildren responded to treatment and were currently discharged.
However, the bills were on the troubled comedian, and the old woman had to undergo some surgeries, which demanded lots of money. She pleaded with all benevolent individuals to support Funny Face.
Kofi Adoma Nwanwani, a journalist who spoke with the comedian at the police station, explained that the comic actor and musician was dealing with pressure issues.
He said the inmates confirmed that Funny Face at times passed out and experienced fatigue and headaches due to low blood pressure.
According to him, Funny Face narrated that when the accident occurred, there was a lady who claimed he had killed the 5-year-old boy, so at that moment, what came into his mind was to also run into the streets to get hit by a moving vehicle.
Kofi further stated that Funny Face was thinking about the money he could use to pay for the surgery on the 60-year-old woman.
He noted that the actor had assured to treat the old woman and the children as part of his family to cater for their needs, hence his quest for support.
Funny Face would reappear before the Kasoa District Court next week to seek bail after being remanded for two weeks for allegedly hitting approximately five pedestrians while driving his Hyundai Atos car at Kakraba Junction around 9:00 p.m.
