The Ministry of the Interior has declared Friday, June 6, 2025, a statutory public holiday to mark Eid-ul-Adha.
In a statement signed by Interior Minister Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, the public is urged to observe the day nationwide in recognition of the Islamic festival.
Eid-ul-Adha, also known as the “Festival of Sacrifice,” commemorates Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son in obedience to Allah — a central story in Islamic tradition.
The occasion is one of the most significant on the Islamic calendar, marked by prayers, feasting, and acts of charity. This year, families and communities across Ghana are expected to gather at mosques and prayer grounds to celebrate.
The Ministry encouraged all citizens to observe the day peacefully and adhere to public health and safety guidelines during the festivities.
