Former Ivory Coast defender Sol Bamba died on Saturday, August 31, 2024, in Turkey after being on admission for a short illness.
Despite having survived non-Hodgkin lymphoma, the former Cardiff City captain, who was on his first managerial stint with Adanaspor in Turkey, gave up his ghost.
Bamba, 39, was known to friends and colleagues as a gentle and humble person who paid glowing tributes at the news of his passing.
“It was never a fair fight,” his wife, Chloe, described his battle with cancer over the years but revealed Bamba accepted his fate and lived a happy life.
A ray of sunshine, as former Cardiff City manager Neil Warnock described him, will be missed by the world of football.
