The 21-year-old pitch invader during Ghana’s home game against Chad, Mohammed Huzeinu, has been reportedly sentenced to 100 days in prison.
An Accra High Court passed the stern sentence on Huzeinu, who evaded security to run onto the pitch for a hug with Bournemouth star, Antoine Semenyo.
The overzealous fan’s actions would result in a fine on the Ghana Football Association (GFA) by the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA).
FIFA considers pitch invasion as a serious breach of security, with the safety of the players and match officials being a priority.
The GFA is expected to pay a hefty fine of $10,000 is are determined to ensure Huzeinu bears a portion of the fine or is punished to deter similar occurrences in the future.
