Celebrated gospel musician Uncle Ato has admonished churches to pay off members who have special posts in church to make them feel appreciated.
According to him, instrumentalists and choir members play prominent roles in church and deserve to be taken care of by the church.
Speaking in a recent media interview, the “Mensuro” hitmaker explained that many churches neglect their instrumentalists and choristers to rather donate to orphanage homes.
He termed the act unfortunate and urged churches to shun the act.
Uncle Ato said even if churches did not have enough funds to pay singers and instrumentalists monthly, they could show care for them to feel appreciated.
“The scripture makes it clear. In 1st Corinthians chapter 9, the bible says that no soldier goes to war buying his own uniform and boots. He deserves to be taken care of.”
“In Matthew 10, it also says the laborer deserves his pay, so when you go, they will give you where to sleep, and it must be given, and because that is assured, you don’t need to worry about charging them because it is something that must be made for you,” he said.
Uncle Ato noted that some church leaders were not even aware of where those people with prominent posts in church sleep or what they eat, adding that “you don’t even know how they come to church, and we don’t even care.”
“We need to do it; even though we gather church monies and give them out to orphanages and those on the street, what is the big deal if you have to support those who are contributing to the church? It’s not a problem at all,” he added.
