The Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) has ruled Morocco to be the winner of the 2025 Total African Cup of Nations.
The Fédération Royale Marocaine de Football (FRMF) appealed to CAF after Senegal’s controversial protest to a penalty against them in a chaotic final on January 18, 2026, which ended 1-0 in favor of their opponent.
According to CAF’s Appeal Board, in application of Article 84 of the Regulations of the CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), the Senegal National Team forfeited the game after leaving the field for over ten minutes.
CAF therefore declared that the Fédération Sénégalaise de Football (FSF), through the conduct of its team, infringed Article 82 of the Regulations of the Africa Cup of Nations.
Furthermore, “in application of Article 84 of the Regulations of the Africa Cup of Nations, the Senegal team is declared to have forfeited the match, with the result recorded as 3–0 in favour of the Fédération Royale Marocaine de Football (FRMF),” CAF stated.
The Fédération Sénégalaise de Football (FSF) is expected to appeal to CAF’s ruling, which might cause major divisions in African football.
